Where do I begin?

Libby Love

Culture quarter, hall

Facts!Yoga means union. Although we are born naturally and perfectly whole beings, and are one with all, we forget everyday over again, as our feeling of separateness is reinforced by the occurrences of our everyday lives. Our yoga practice is a daily remainder of who we really are, learned through the intuitive wisdom of our bodies themselves. It is an EXPERIENCE of the truth of existence. When the circumstances around us appear overwhelming, we can practice together - effecting real change in our environment, reminding ourselves of our connection, making our practice a form of samyoga. A practice to remember the harmonious unanimity of all beings. In this session, we will practice yoga techniques which bring awareness to the subtle systems of our inner self, that which is perpetually united with all. In order to make positive change, we begin within.

Back to the roots

Margit & Peter Stegmair

Culture quarter, hall

Facts! In our world, with its many options, we seldom focus on what we're doing. Instead, we're generally already looking a step further into the future, or are focused on what we want or how things should be. This creates more stress than anything else. It is our goal to change this, and truly stay with what we're doing. To accept it and enjoy it, no matter how strenuous it might be.

The space in-between - yoga as a path to freedom

Boris Georgiev

Culture quarter, theatre

Facts! In answer to the questions of where she could find him, Shiva once told Parvati: In the space between when the breath out has ended but the breath in hasn't started yet. In this workshop we dedicate ourselves to this space in-between, and observe whether we can endure the freedom of staying there. Our desire for a meaningful goal, a final state or something tangible often steals this freedom from us. We use elements of yoga, especially Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga (bandhas, breathing, Vinyasa) to come closer to this freedom.

By remaining for longer periods in selected, harmonious asanas (yoga poses), the body and soul can come to rest and relax. As well as the positive effect on our body, this lesson also focuses above all on the aspect of self-awareness. It can be seen as a small journey within ourselves. We will work with essential oils from doTERRA to support the effect of the yoga session.

Kirtan (chanting)

Renee Sunbird and Boris Georgiev

Culture quarter, hall

Facts! With Kirtan (chanting) we sing mantras together. Mantras are the sound of the universe. Some say that they have always existed and that we can hear them once we start listening to the silence. By reciting the mantras we can enter a deep state of meditation, in which we sense who we really are. Recited mantras can either be spoken, whispered, sung or repeated mentally. In general one person sings first and then the group repeats. This creates a beautiful group dynamic, opening the heart and letting the soul dance in rhythm with the music.

Face Shine Yoga - what is it?

Uschi and Zorica

Culture quarter, theatre

Facts!Face yoga aims for tightened facial features, a fresh look and a comfortable relaxed face. It consists of targeted exercises to activate the facial muscles. Studies have verified its effectiveness. Our face is the mirror of our souls. Just think of chronic stress, which leads to tense jaw muscles, and in part to night time teeth grinding. Or of constant worrying that digs deep folds between the eyebrows. Or tiredness and exhaustion that make eyelids droop. Yoga for the face works in exactly the same way as Hatha Yoga for the body: Stretching, relaxation and strengthening of the muscles creates a free flow of energy, and achieves increased well-being and health. Yoga exercises for the face are therefore a cost-effective, long-term anti-aging programme, which ensure a vibrant and positive face. The exercises preserve healthy tension in the facial skin, and activate its regenerative power.

Florian Reitlinger

This yoga style, which is pronounced “ji-va-mukti”, was created in the 1980s by Sharon Gannon and David Life in New York. “Jivamukti” is made up of the words “jiva” (soul) and “mukti” (liberation). Sharon and David were inspired by Ashtanga yoga, combining it with meditation, music and spiritual elements. This yoga style is suitable for people who enjoy active and moving yoga classes with music, as well as some spiritual content.

Finding inner peace - how to make mindfulness the foundation of your life

Astrid Felsenreich

Culture quarter, theatre

Facts!“There is more to life than increasing its speed” Mahatma Ghandi

Almost everyone will experience, or suffer, phases of uncertainty, pressure, upheaval, fear or even burnout in their lifetime. External and internal demands, perfectionism and the fear of not being good enough are, amongst many other stress factors, reasons for the development of negative tension. This is associated with a loss of energy and lowered enjoyment of life. Quite often, the reasons are certain patterns of thinking and feeling, with which we react to external influences. In her presentation “Finding inner peace - how to make mindfulness the foundation of your life”, Astrid presents a holistic understanding of the function of our nervous system. She introduces methods of mindfulness, relaxation and breathing that will bring you closer to yourself, and help you to recognise, change and break your stress patterns.

The “Mantra Tribe Chanting Party” started in 2014 in Berlin, to break new musical ground. It created an evocative sound, and a musical style that was completely new. Ayurvedic nutrition - as preventive medicine

Dr. Jeevan

Culture quarter, theatre

Facts!Cooking is an art - eating is enjoyment - a path to the maintenance of a healthy body and soul. Our body is built up based on our nutrition, and we are the result of what we eat and digest every day. Ayurveda therefore emphasises the importance of correctknowledge of appropriate nutrition, the taste qualities and characteristics of the food, suitable preparation methods, as well as the right time and conditions for dietary intake. This means that not only the type of food itself is important, but also thedigestive capacity, in Ayurveda known as “Agni” or “digestive fire”. In that respect Ayurvedic cooking doesn’t simply mean “Indian” cooking, but rather it focuses on understanding the overall view of how eating can contribute to health, and support a healthylife.
